Rhyl Youth Marching Band

About Us

What are we?

Firstly, we are a marching band and we take part in competitions all over the UK. We are also a concert band, where we sit down and play.

When and where do we meet?

We meet on Monday and Thursday evenings at 1st Rhyl Scout HQ on Tynewydd Road, Rhyl. Beginners also meet on Mondays.

What Instruments Do We Play?

We play mainly brass instruments (Cornets, Horns, Euphoniums and Basses), with woodwind (Clarinets) and Percussion (Drums, Cymbals, Xylophones, etc)

What Music Do We Play?

ALL SORTS! From musicals like Oliver, Annie and Les Miserables, to films like Lion King, Indiana Jones, ET, and Superman, to TV programmes like Star Trek, Coronation Street and Eastenders, to classical pieces and lots, lots MORE!

What Do I Need To Join?

NOTHING! We provide instruments, your uniform and tuition. If you have an instrument of your own, you can, of course, use that and the band will insure it against damage.

Must I Be Able To Play Already?

DEFINITELY NOT! If you can play an instrument then GREAT, if not, choose what you want to play and we will teach you.

How Much Does It Cost?

Every member pays just £6.50 a month. This goes towards the cost of instruments, uniforms, concerts, expenses and trips.

What Else Do We Do?

We also go on trips such as ice-skating, bowling, Laser Quest and to the theatre. We also have band holidays and, for the whole family, we have events such as BBQs, Barn Dances and lots, lots MORE!!!!!

How Do I Join?

EASY! Simply send your contact details to the Band Master via our feedback page, or pop down to a rehearsal and say hello.

We look forward to meeting you.
